Regarding abrogation of the laws of Islám[edit]

"There are many authorised traditions from Muhammad stating clearly (as explained in the Iqan) that the promised Qá'im would bring a new Book and new Laws. In other words abrogating the law of Islám."

(On behalf of Shoghi Effendi, 30 November 1930, Unfolding Destiny, p. 426)

The Iqan and the Persian Bayán[edit]

The Kitáb-i-Iqán was in fulfillment of the prophecy of the Báb regarding completion of the unfinished Persian Bayán[edit]

"Foremost among the priceless treasures cast forth from the billowing ocean of Bahá'u'lláh's Revelation ranks the Kitáb-i-Iqán (Book of Certitude), revealed within the space of two days and two nights, in the closing years of that period (1278 A.H.--1862 A.D.). It was written in fulfillment of the prophecy of the Báb, Who had specifically stated that the Promised One would complete the text of the unfinished Persian Bayán..."

(Shoghi Effendi, God Passes By, p. 138)

He Whom God would manifest was per the Báb to complete the Bayán, though not in its actual literal form[edit]

"The Bab specified that the 'Bayan' is not completed and that 'He Whom God would manifest' (Bahá'u'lláh) would complete it, though not in its actual form, but only spiritually in the form of another book. The 'Iqan' is believed to be its continuation."

(From a letter written on behalf of the Guardian to the National Spiritual Assembly of India, February 17, 1939: Dawn of a New Day, p. 78, in Lights of Guidance, no. 1544)
