A compendium includes summaries or lists of items.
This Bahá'í wiki site aims to have both:
- summaries of Bahá'í guidance linked in each case to the source quotations, preferably on the wiki page itself or at least linked back to these authoritative Writings. (as in some Baha'i World Centre Research Department memoranda; see Writings Buddhist authenticity for a page demonstrating this style.
- Lights of Guidance-style headings with supporting quotations (including from Lights of Guidance itself
- lists of historical and other data gleaned from (and linked to) cited authoritative sources
- lists of (and links to) available study materials and study notes, etc.
This approach is intended to focus more on the official Bahá'í perspective, rather than allowing for individual opinions to obscure the actual teachings.
Quote summaries and headings are intended to assist users to find and retain the authoritative guidance. These additions of headings and summaries will of course involve some personal interpretation (which could be faulty or incomplete), as will even the selection of excerpts, but with access to the original quotations (on the page and with a link to the full context), users can--and should--verify for themselves the degree of faithfulness of these study tools to the original.
The pages here are intended for offering a Bahá'í perspective on the topic in question, though the pages have also been designed for the possibility of examining (and storing) any information, in general or pertaining specifically to one's life (for which there may be no explicit guidance from the Bahá'í Writings) or in determining goals, if a client might be designed to interact with this content and hierarchy.
