Adamic Cycle
(The Adamic Cycle was six thousand years long)[edit]
"...the Blessed Báb, Prophet and Herald of the Faith of Bahá'u'lláh, Founder of the Dispensation marking the culmination of the six thousand year old Adamic Cycle..."
- (Shoghi Effendi, Citadel of Faith, p. 80)
No dates of the Prophets in the Adamic Cycle of which we can be sure[edit]
"There are no dates in our teachings regarding the actual dates of the Prophets of the Adamic Cycle, so we cannot give any. Tentatively we can accept what historians may consider accurate. Naturally the dates referring to Muhammad, the Báb and Bahá'u'lláh we are sure of."
- (From a letter written on behalf of Shoghi Effendi - 25 November 1950, Buddha, Krishna, Zoroaster and Related Subjects, no. 23, from a compilation of extracts from letters written on behalf of the Guardian on these and related subjects, enclosed with a letter to an individual believer on November 30, 1980 from the Universal House of Justice, Lights of Guidance, no. 1696)
Adamic Cycle was inaugurated 6000 years ago, and this cycle is only one of many bygone cycles, with Bahá’u’lláh being its culmination[edit]
"The Adamic Cycle inaugurated 6000 years ago by the Manifestation of God called Adam is only one of the many bygone cycles. Bahá’u’lláh, as you say, is the culmination of the Adamic Cycle. He is also the Inaugurator of the Bahá’í Cycle.
"Obviously there must have been Prophets and Manifestations in the ages preceding the Adamic Cycle. This is supported by the following statement revealed by Bahá’u’lláh.
- (From a letter written on behalf of the Universal House of Justice to an individual believer, March 13, 1986, in Lights of Guidance, no. 1683)
Bahá'u'lláh was the Founder of the Dispensation marking the culmination of the six thousand year old Adamic Cycle[edit]
"Moved to share with assembled representatives of American Bahá'í Community gathered beneath the dome of the Most Holy House of Worship in the Bahá'í world, feelings of profound emotion evoked by this historic occasion of the world-wide commemoration of the First Centenary of the Martyrdom of the Blessed Báb, Prophet and Herald of the Faith of Bahá'u'lláh, Founder of the Dispensation marking the culmination of the six thousand year old Adamic Cycle, Inaugurator of the five thousand century Bahá'í Cycle."

Buddha appeared in the Adamic cycle[edit]
"Buddha appeared in the Adamic cycle"

Bahá'u'lláh's Revelation was the consummation of all the Dispensations within the Adamic Cycle[edit]
"A Revelation, hailed as the promise and crowning glory of past ages and centuries, as the consummation of all the Dispensations within the Adamic Cycle, inaugurating an era of at least a thousand years' duration, and a cycle destined to last no less than five thousand centuries, signalizing the end of the Prophetic Era and the beginning of the Era of Fulfillment, unsurpassed alike in the duration of its Author's ministry and the fecundity and splendor of His mission-- such a Revelation was, as already noted, born amidst the darkness of a subterranean dungeon in Tihrán--an abominable pit that had once served as a reservoir of water for one of the public baths of the city."
- (Shoghi Effendi, God Passes By, p. 100)
The Adamic Cycle stretched back as far as the first dawnings of the world's recorded religious history[edit]
"Thus ended a life which posterity will recognize as standing at the confluence of two universal prophetic cycles, the Adamic Cycle stretching back as far as the first dawnings of the world's recorded religious history and the Bahá'í Cycle destined to propel itself across the unborn reaches of time for a period of no less than five thousand centuries."
