This site's definition of scholarship[edit]

The term "scholarship" at this subpage is being used narrowly to refer to essays written by an individual or individuals not including the Central Figures of the Bahá'í Faith, which though surely including references to the Bahá'í Writings will to a significant degree weave together various pieces of information, including not only the Bahá'í Writings, but potentially also historical data, statistics, etc. and persuasive arguments and thoughts according to the author's own perspective.

This site's focus[edit]

Although scholarly articles are welcomed (and can be added to this page here and/or as links throughout the site), the central thrust of the other wiki pages at this site is to collect and organize quotations and data which can instead most directly be inferred from the authoritative Writings themselves (and also pilgrim's notes, but which are explicitly categorized as such) such as compilations with helpful headings, summaries of guidance on a subject (linked to the original sources), study outlines, etc. (even though such items admittedly can involve personal interpretation as well) and, as appropriate, to collect links to scholarly articles hosted elsewhere. Some contextual information may be necessary on the main pages, but most scholarly discussions should thus either be placed on an independent page linking from the topic page and/or as a page leading from this present page you are now reading.

Adding and referencing scholarship pages on site[edit]

As an example of the above, if a person wanted to write an extensive scholarly article on the mystical mindset of the Súfís receiving the Seven Valleys from Bahá'u'lláh, the discussion should not clutter up the Seven Valleys and the Four Valleys page (with nonauthoritative opinions or information not directly connected with the work itself), even if the information could be useful for some people, but should rather be included as a link from the Seven Valleys page (categorized under an item such as "links to individual scholarship" or "background on the population of the work's recipient") and or as a link from this present page you are now reading. The prefix "Scholarship-" can be affixed in front of such articles (e.g., Scholarship-Seven Valleys. One could also add the code [[Category:Scholarship]] to a page which contained nonauthoritative information.
