Devil in the Bible

Devil (or Satan) has nothing to do with truth[edit]

“He (the devil)...has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him.”

(John: 8:44)

“And the great dragon was thrown down that ancient serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to earth.”

(Revelation 12:9)

The Devil has no truth and God is not the author of confusion, so truth must come from God and only untruth from the Devil[edit]

“He (the devil)...has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him.”

(John: 8:44)

"...for God is not the author of confusion"

(1 Cor 14:33)

Satan's influence is not flesh and blood[edit]

“Put on all of God’s armor so that you may be able to stand safe against all strategies and tricks of Satan. For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against persons without bodies, the evil rulers of the unseen world.”

(Ephesians 6:11-12)

(As with Jesus identifying Peter as Satan, Satan must be a symbolic title for being on the side of men opposing God; otherwise, the Church is founded on Satan who would decide who gets into the kingdom of heaven)[edit]

“From that time forth began Jesus to show unto His disciples, how that he must go into Jerusalem ... and be killed. Then Peter took Him and began to rebuke Him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord; this shall not be unto Thee. But He turned and said unto Peter, ‘Get thee behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to Me; for you are not on the side of God, but of men.’”

(Matt 16:21-23)

"And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

(Matthew 16:18-19)

(Since Peter did not enter Judas, Satan was a symbolic entity)[edit]

“Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed Iscariot being of the number of the twelve.”

(Luke 22:3)

(Satan has already been cast out of the world, so it couldn't be Bahá'u'lláh)[edit]

“Now is the judgment of this world, now shall the ruler of this world (Satan) be cast out; and I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself. He said this to show by what death He was to die”

(John 12:31)

Both Satan and Christ appear to have the same power at the same time, so[edit]

Satan appears to be given exclusive control over minds and spirit of unbelievers/disobedient[edit]

"The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God."

(2 Corinthians 4:4)

"in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient."

(Ephesians 2:2

"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."

(Ephesians 6:12)

Christ claims He has the same power at the same time as Satan[edit]

"For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him."

(John 17:2)

(If Bahá’u’lláh is the Return of Christ, then those who do not recognize Bahá’u’lláh “believe not” in Christ and may be being blinded by Satan)[edit]

“In whom the god of this world (Satan) hath blinded the minds of them which believe not.”

(2 Corinthians 4:4)

(Christians who have faith in Jesus Christ returned in Bahá’u’lláh are protected from the evil one)[edit]

“Besides all these, taking the shield of faith, with which you can quench all the flaming darts of this evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.”

(Ephesians 6:16-17)
