Humanity cannot conceive of a plan better than God's; should therefore follow God's plan[edit]

"Can humanity conceive a plan and policy better and superior to that of God? It is certain that no matter how capable man may be in origination of plan and organization of purpose, his efforts will be inadequate when compared with the divine plan and purpose; for the policy of God is perfect. Therefore, we must follow the will and plan of God. As He is kind to all, we must be likewise; and it is certain that this will be most acceptable to God."

('Abdu'l-Bahá, Promulgation of Universal Peace, p. 127)

Human policy and foresight are imperfect (the divine policy (of the oneness of humanity) should rule)[edit]

"Then divine policy shall govern the world, for the divine policy is the oneness of humanity. God is just and kind to all. He considers all as His servants. He excludes none, and His judgments are correct and true. No matter how complete human policy and foresight may appear, they are imperfect."

('Abdu'l-Bahá, Promulgation of Universal Peace, p. 66)

Planning in the Faith does not mean institutions design a future but rather strive to align the work of the Cause with the Divine processes seen steadily unfolding; doing so allows the Cause's potentialities to bear fruit[edit]

"...it is helpful for Bahá'is to understand not only the role that planning plays in the life of the Cause, but the unique nature of this instrumentality in its Bahá'í expression. The systematic identification of objectives to be achieved and decisions as to how to achieve them does not mean that the Bahá'í community has assumed the responsibility of "designing" a future for itself, as the concept of planning customarily implies. What Bahá'í institutions do, rather, is to strive to align the work of the Cause with the Divinely impelled process they see steadily unfolding in the world, a process that will ultimately realize its purpose, regardless of historical circumstances or events. The challenge to the Administrative Order is to ensure that, as Providence allows, Bahá'í efforts are in harmony with this Greater Plan of God, because it is in doing so that the potentialities implanted in the Cause by Bahá'u'lláh bear their fruit."

(On behalf of the Universal House of Justice, Century of Light, p. 69)
