Sources of guidance

The following are a list of possible sources of guidance (with only the first being seen in the Faith as infallible unless one had been alive at the time of the Manifestation of God):

  • Writings including compilations (including of Universal House of Justice & prior Scriptures) - authoritative (though see Types of proofs re: fallible nature of our reason needed to try to understand the Writings)
  • Spiritual Assemblies (not infallible, but to be obeyed)
  • History, Pilgrim's notes (not authoritative, but may be of value; may cover words or deeds of infallible Central Figures, but source not necessarily authoritative)
  • Learned, fellow believers and others, of past or today (God reflected in humanity) including via consultation - not infallible; no binding judgments of scholars nor any living perfect objects of emulation (though see role model), etc.; may include individual study outlines of Writings
  • Individual interpretations (see also ego/self), conscience, vision, recognition of one's own predilections, meditation - not infallible nor to be imposed
  • Nature (God reflected in nature as reflecting His signs; not infallible)
