Seth a son of Adam; (spoken of in connection with a change in the social laws of religion)[edit]

"During the cycle of Adam it was lawful and expedient for a man to marry his own sister, even as Abel, Cain and Seth, the sons of Adam, married their sisters. But in the law of the Pentateuch revealed by Moses these marriages were forbidden and their custom and sanction abrogated."

(The Promulgation of Universal Peace, p. 365)

Seth one of the sons of Adam (a connection with Sabaeanism?)[edit]

"As to the Sabaeans who claim to derive their religion from Seth and Idrís, the Research Department has, to date, been able to locate only one additional brief reference in the Bahá'í Writings to Seth. In The Promulgation of Universal Peace: Talks Delivered by 'Abdu'l-Bahá' during His Visit to the United States and Canada in 1912 (Wilmette: Bahá'í Publishing Trust, 1982), page 365, the Master describes Seth as one of the "sons of Adam". There are, however, two very interesting references to Idrís contained in a footnote which appears on page 148 of Tablets of Bahá'u'll'áh Revealed after the Kitáb-i-Aqdas (Wilmette: Bahá'í Publishing Trust, 1988)..."

(Research Department of the Universal House of Justice, 6 August 1996, section 1.1)

Biblical References to Seth[edit]

Seth a son of Adam after Abel's death; Seth had Enosh[edit]

"Adam lay with his wife again, and she gave birth to a son and named him Seth, saying, "God has granted me another child in place of Abel, since Cain killed him." Seth also had a son, and he named him Enosh. At that time men began to call on the name of the LORD."

(Genesis 4:25-26)

Seth born as Adam was 130 years old; Seth had Enosh at 105 years; Seth lived for 912 years[edit]

"When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth. After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. Altogether, Adam lived 930 years, and then he died. When Seth had lived 105 years, he became the father of Enosh. And after he became the father of Enosh, Seth lived 807 years and had other sons and daughters. Altogether, Seth lived 912 years, and then he died."

(Genesis 5:3-8)
